Noah Taylor | New Works | Exhibition Opening

Claudia Karvan kindly opened Noah Taylor’s exhibition ‘New Works‘ at Olsen Irwin Works on Paper, Small Paintings and Sculpture on Saturday 7 June 2014. Due to Taylor’s acting commitments in the UK, he was unfortunately unable to attend the opening of the exhibition, instead asking childhood friend Karvan to step in. It was Karvan who initially introduced Taylor’s work to Olsen Irwin director, Tim Olsen, making her the obvious choice to open the exhibition. Watch Karvan’s speech and scenes from the opening in the video above.

Screen shot 2014-06-10 at 11.38.02 AMArts writer Elizabeth Fortescue covered the opening of Noah Taylor’s exhibition of new work for The Sunday Telegraph. “This second exhibition, titled New Works, is a series of drawings in ink on paper. It’s a medium in which Taylor says he can work quickly to record his subconscious thoughts.” – Elizabeth Fortescue, The Sunday Telegraph

Noah Taylor | New Works

Noah Taylor discussing his highly successful exhibition with Olsen Irwin in Jan 2013. Taylor describes his works as “… little frozen scenes from a story.” – Noah Taylor

By drawing from the subconscious, Taylor allows his brush to intuitively form bizarre and unsettling narratives. Taylor’s works, although seemingly simple, leave a vivid, complex and – most certainly – a lasting impression.

Taylor’s new works on paper will be exhibited in the Olsen Irwin Works on Paper, Small Paintings and Sculpture Gallery from 4 – 21 June 2014. The exhibition will be opened by Claudia Karvan on Saturday 7 June 2 – 4pm.

Olsen Irwin | Works on Paper, Small Paintings and Sculpture

Olsen Irwin‘s Works on Paper, Small Paintings and Sculpture gallery has undergone some cosmetic changes over recent weeks. We officially launched the new look space on Saturday 30 November 2013. The launch coincided with the opening of the summer survey exhibition ‘Regroup – Works under $5000‘, featuring new work by Olsen Irwin artists such as Camie Lyons, Andrew Taylor, and Guy Warren. Saturday’s event was kindly sponsored by Handpicked Wines, who kept the Italian prosecco and Australian wines flowing. View a few photos from the event after the jump.

In 2014 our Queen Street gallery will be forging ahead with an exciting exhibition schedule of artist solo exhibitions and curated group shows. Already on the roster for solo exhibitions in 2014 are Paul Ryan, Angus McDonald, Jo Bertini and Luke Sciberras.

Olsen Irwin | Sydney Contemporary Success

2013’s inaugural Sydney Contemporary art fair has drawn to a close with galleries, artists, collectors and the public happy all round. The four day affair from 19 – 22 September was full of great discoveries, surprises and people! The opening night quite literally stopped traffic – proving that the art scene in Sydney is as vibrant as ever.

Tim Olsen, director of Olsen Irwin, reported to Clive Paget of Limelight Magazine, “Sales have been extremely strong, defying the climate on the street,”… “After the first day of the fair we had at least 30 new faces in our stand that we’d never met before. Our experience has exceeded expectations – we’ve found it to be a vibrant event that was also a commercial success.” – Limelight Magazine
