Siru Tuomisto is a multidisciplinary artist-designer born in Finland, spent 19 years of her life in New York, Los Angeles, London and Tuscany. Her work seamlessly blends architecture, design, and fine art into a distinctive visual language. Working primarily with mixed media, she repurposes materials such as glass, metal, and wood, creating pieces that engage in a dialogue between past and present. Her Second Chance collection explores themes of sustainability and transformation, giving materials a new life through art.
Tuomisto's artistic approach is deeply rooted in aesthetics and storytelling, evident in both her sculptures and installations. In addition to her fine art practice, she has a background in set design for Hollywood film & TV during which time she became convinced everything can be built, unbuilt and rebuilt. She has also designed high-end interiors and brand concepts around the world.
Her pieces invite the viewer to contemplate the passage of time, the value of materials and to deepen our relationship with objects, instead of blindly following one off consumption. A new deeper approach can make something that was thought to be worn out, boring and ‘so last season’ into bright, fun and playful -artworks worth loving and taking good care of.
With a strong, recognisable artistic voice, Tuomisto continues to push the boundaries of contemporary art and design.
