John Olsen | ABC | The King Sun

The King Sun: John Olsen aired on ABC1 10m Tuesday 17 June 2014. The documentary takes us inside John Olsen’s journey to create the second largest mural of his career at the age of 85. The eight by six metre mural now takes centre stage at the Walker Corporation’s development, Collins Square at Melbourne Docklands.

John Olsen | The Three O's | Manly Art Gallery and Museum

The Three O’s: Orban, Olsen and Ogburn featuring the work of John Olsen, John Ogburn and Desiderius Orban opens tonight Friday 21 March at Manly Art Gallery and Museum. With over 90 works from private collections and public institutions, including two rare Olsen tapestries, the exhibition is a must see for any Olsen admirer. Touring from Orange Regional Gallery, the Manly Art Gallery and Museum is the fourth stop for the exhibition, continuing onto Maitland Regional Art Gallery and Artspace McKay in 2014.

“Curated by Emma Collerton, this touring exhibition explores the legacy of Desiderius Orban and that of two of his students, John Ogburn and John Olsen. Both later taught at Orban’s studio before blazing their own trails in Australian Art.” – Manly Art Gallery and Museum

John Olsen Osborne Samuel | Exhibition Opening

John Olsen‘s exhibition at London’s Osborne Samuel gallery was opened by Australian comedian Barry Humphries to large crowds and positive reviews. Although John Olsen was unfortunately unable to attend, his infectious enthusiasm and vibrancy was conveyed to the gallery via a recorded video message. The exhibition of new works on paper coincides with the Royal Academy of Arts ‘Australia’ exhibition, featuring Olsen’s ‘Sydney Sun‘. John Olsen | Osborne Samuel, London

An exhibition of John Olsen’s new work will be on show at London’s Osborne Samuel gallery from 3 October to 26 October 2013. Coinciding with the Royal Academy of Arts ‘Australia’ exhibition, featuring Olsen’s ‘Sydney Sun‘, the Osbourne Samuel exhibition will showcase new works on paper featuring quintessential Olsen imagery of frogs, cuisine and Lake Eyre.

In celebration of John Olsen’s major London shows, Olsen Irwin are releasing two of his new works as signed limited edition prints. The limited edition run of 35 are printed using pigmented ink on archival watercolour paper and will be available from late October 2013. Contact madeleine@olsengallery.com for more information.
