Maroon 5’s Jesse Carmichael Keeps it Short and Sweet with Two-Minute Movies

KCET
July 2020

Participants can do as they like, but it can’t run longer than two minutes; that’s the idea behind 2 Minute Movies (2mm), a collective of filmmakers and artists founded in early 2019 by Maroon 5’s Jesse Carmichael. “The biggest takeaway from this period of isolation is just how important it is to have friends and family around to make things in life with; memories and art,” he tells “Southland Sessions.” Despite starting before the pandemic, the collective’s more recent videos reflect intimate portraits of the current moment.

â??The Golden Daysâ?? Paul Davies solo show at the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery

7 February - 22 March 2020

Paul Davies is an Australian-born, Los Angeles - based artist whose work is driven by friction between opposing forces of built and natural environments, design and art, abstraction and figuration. These boundaries and relationships are illustrated through Davies' process, which combines painting, stencilling, photography and sculpture. The Golden Days reflects on the connection between Los Angeles, California, and Hill End, NSW, through an exploration of landscape and notions of ‘gold rush’ in the context of historical and present day meaning.

Hollywood Reporter 'First Look inside soho warehouse in downtown LA'

October 2019

"The membership club's third West Coast outpost offers a gym, bedrooms and ? at long last ? a rooftop pool. Soho House members will finally be able to bask by the pool in Los Angeles or stay the night at their favorite hangout. The exclusive club is drawing back the curtains on its third West Coast location, known as Soho Warehouse, in downtown Los Angeles. With it comes three new additions not available at its other L.A. outposts: bedrooms, a rooftop pool and a gym... Australian artist Paul Davies, now based in L.A., created this large-format painting for the top floor. To the left hangs a photograph of the artwork in progress that shows Davies' feet to capture the artistic vibe of the venue."   To read the full article click here.
