For many years Marisa Purcell has been
experimenting with a signature style of atmospheric and effervescent
effects on both paper and linen. This exhibition sees her style evolve
and expand across both Olsen galleries. In December 2016 Purcell will
present part a, a series of small works on paper and linen in the Olsen
Annexe. It will be a precursor to part b that will be shown in February
2017 in the main gallery space.

A process igniting freedom to work across diverse surfaces and materials.
It harnesses surprise….
FACET is the result of thinking through ideas and playing with materials. Working with paper brings a spirit of experimentation. Small works happen simultaneously with larger works on linen - they feed each other. Going between paper and large paintings ensures cross pollination. The two modes of practice inform each other and intimately relate, whilst also maintaining their own essence. These elements eventually weave themselves through to the larger works on linen, which can be seen in part b of this exhibition, showing at OLSEN in February 2017."
