Celia creates a colour dynamic through the use of saturated chroma which has an active spatial and optical effect. She also achieves textural subtlety through the colour values in her work, yet she establishes an underlying geometry which grounds these subtleties. These structural aspects can also be seen in the works of Swiss modernist Paul Klee. Overall these painting highlight the importance of underpainting which allows the light to come seemingly from below the surface, which accentuates their woven appearance.
